Bread Stuffing

This is a traditional turkey stuffing, however if you would like to eat it all year round you can use it as chicken stuffing anytime.

Ingredients

350g (12 oz) shallots, finely chopped
100g (4 oz) butter
350g (12 oz) soft white breadcrumbs
40g (1½ oz) chopped parsley
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Fry the shallots gently in the butter until golden. Add the breadcrumbs and mix well.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Season with plenty of salt and pepper, remember it is still suppose to be cooked inside the turkey and the meat will take away some of the flavouring.
  3. Leave the stuffing to cool before use.

Cooking Times and Serving Sizes

Makes: Stuffing for a 5.5kg (12 lb) Turkey
Preparation Time: 20 Minutes
Cooking Time: 3 to 4 Minutes
Storage Time: Up to a week in the refrigerator or up to a month in the freezer.
