Winter Fruit Compote

This is a delicious wintry addition to any cereal or meat dish. You can also eat it as a dessert on its own or served with custard or ice cream.

Ingredients

5 green apples
5 pears
10 prunes
10 dried apricots
1 tablespoon sugar
water

Instructions

  1. Wash and core the apple and the pears. Then slice both fruits into thicker wedges.
  2. Cut the prunes and dried apricots into two.
  3. Place all fruit, fresh and dry, into a saucepan. Add sugar and enough water to cover generously.
  4. Place on moderate heat and bring to boil. Then cook for 20 minutes or until the apples and pears are soft.
